A New Era of Player Development Begins for the Icehawks

The Kansas City Icehawks are proud to announce a major addition to the program’s player development lineup — the opening of a brand-new Hockey Specific Training Facility on November 1.

This new space introduces state-of-the-art training tools designed to help players elevate their game year-round through advanced off-ice and simulation-based workouts. The facility will be open exclusively to Icehawks members.

Skating Treadmill: Elite On-Ice Simulation

At the heart of the new training center is a skating treadmill built to simulate real on-ice conditions. Capable of reaching speeds up to 30 km/hr, the treadmill allows athletes to skate and stickhandle simultaneously, replicating game-like movement in a controlled environment.

Coaches will lead structured sessions focusing on stride efficiency, power generation, balance, and mechanics — helping players refine the finer details of their skating that are often difficult to isolate during team practices.

Shooting & Stickhandling Training Area

The new facility also features a dedicated shooting and stickhandling area, built to enhance accuracy, puck control, and release. The space includes:

* Four shooting tarps for developing power and precision

* A synthetic ice pad for shooting in skates

* Ample floor space for hands-on puck work and repetition-based drills

These additions give players the opportunity to work on key fundamentals and strengthen their individual skill sets outside of regular team sessions.

Supervision Requirement

All training sessions must be supervised by a parent or coach over the age of 18. Players should not use the treadmill or shooting area without adult supervision at any time. Additionally, the skating treadmill may only be used when a certified coach trained in its operation is present. This policy ensures a safe and productive training environment for every participant.

Taking Icehawks Training to the Next Level

The introduction of this facility marks another step forward in the Icehawks’ commitment to player development. By combining advanced training technology with accessible membership options, the club continues to provide athletes with new ways to grow — faster, stronger, and smarter.

The new facility officially opens on November 1. Stay tuned for more details on membership registration and scheduling information in the coming days.
